Established in the year 2002, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is committed to providing quality professional education to aspiring engineers. The department has an annual intake of 120 students for the B Tech course and 48 students for the M.Tech course. The department has well experienced and dedicated faculty members and aims to impart sound knowledge and awareness in the latest developments in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

The department has eight well equipped state of the art laboratories to provide the students with the necessary and sufficient backing of practical knowledge, besides encouraging them to try out their innovative research and development ideas. These laboratories provide facilities in the areas of Electronic Devices and Circuits, Linear and Digital Integrated Circuits, Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, VHDL, Digital Signal Processing, Microwave Engineering, Optical Communication, Satellite Communication. The laboratories are also equipped with the latest versions of software like SCILAB, CADENCE Design Suite,ANSOFT simulation software,SPICE Tools, Xilinx ISE, FEL, MATLAB,ORCAD etc .The class rooms are also equipped with the latest audio and visual teaching aids.
The department has consistently achieved excellent results in the university examinations and also has a very good placement record. Students of the department bagged the first rank in the university examination in the years 2012 and 2010 for the B Tech course. The first rank and third rank of the M Tech Communication Engineering of the 2010 – 2012 batch was bagged by the students of the department.
The students of the department have always bagged very good offers from companies like TCS,UST Global, IBS, RMESI,COREAL,Speridian, Tata Elexi, Kalki Tech, Procsysetc
Experts from the industry are periodically invited to give lectures/demonstrations to the students on the latest developments in the field. Students are given exposure to industries by industrial visits and industrial training session. Students undertake training in reputed industries like BSNL, Keltron ,FACT,CIAL,AirIndia,OEN,Tata Communications, ITI etc
As part of the faculty empowerment programme, the staff members are encouraged to attend seminars and workshops in the different areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering.Two day training on Ansoft, Altium trainer kits etc were provided to the faculty. The staff members attended a 10 day course on Analog Electronics conducted by IIT Kharagpur
Many value added programs like conferences, workshops, technical quizzes, project exhibitions, design contests, paper presentations, personality development courses etc are conducted by the department.
M.Tech in Communication Engineering
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is offering a post graduate course in Communication Engineering. This course aims at providing a sound exposure to advanced areas of communication like Digital Communication, RF MEMS, High performance communication networks, high frequency circuit design, Satellite communication, Advanced Digital signal processing, Wireless Communication etc.
State of the art laboratories have been set up for conducting experiments in areas like Optical communication, microwave communication, Signal processing, Image processing etc. A research cum project lab is also set up for facilitating the students to do their projects in house. All the students are encouraged to present seminars in topics related to their areas of study. The number of students admitted each year is 24.
M.Tech in VLSI & Embedded Systems
Department has reached one more milestone by starting its new M tech course in 2014. The course will provide an in-depth knowledge in areas of hardware architectures and chip design.
The course is aimed at both front end &back end design of chip manufacturing. Students can explore in the areas of HDL languages, simulation and synthesis, verification methods, digital design, analog design and low power methods. The course also provides strong knowledge in embedded system by dealing with latest processor architectures, hardware software co design and RTOS.
The newly started branch is fully equipped with latest design software’s and hardware platforms. Students can design their chips up to 90nm by using alliance cad tools and Cadence design Software. Spice simulation software’s provides a platform for circuit analysis and make the student’s job easier.
