Faculty Development Programme on "Design of Steel Structures" 16th to 20th July 2018

The Department of Civil Engineering is organising a faculty development programme on "Design of Steel Structures" from 16th to 20th July 2018.

The objective of the course is to refresh and update the knowledge of  participants in the area of design of the structural steel elements and their connections in accordance with latest code of practice. The program is intended to help faculty offering courses in steel design at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The program also envisages to impart an insight about the advanced topics in structural  steel design including use of the software, TEKLA.

Course Content

Design philosophy of steel structures.

Familiarisation of IS code and other steel codes.

Design of Beam, Column and Connection

Failures in steel structures and maintenance of steel structures

Plastic analysis and design of steel structures

Design of roof truss, plate girder, gantry girder

High rise building load consideration -design, construction

Design of Foundations

Special steel and innovative structures

Familiarization of TEKLA software for the design of steel structures.
