THYRA is the students association of the Computer Science and Engineering Department which is aimed to build a futuristic, innovative opportunity for the students of FISAT. Founded in 2004, THYRA has been an integral cornerstone in enhancing learning opportunities to be creative with guidance from well supported faculty in dynamic learning environments. It has been an active centre to support the various technical projects, community and educational events, workshops, seminars, quiz, collaborations etc.
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a professional association for electronic engineering and electrical engineering. IEEE Computer Society is a professional society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Its purpose and scope is "to advance the theory, practice, and application of computer and information processing science and technology" and the "professional standing of its members." An IEEE Student Branch provides opportunities to meet and learn from fellow IEEE members. This includes IEEE Student Members and professional IEEE members. An IEEE Student Branch gives students a community of peers, and a connection to faculty and industry professionals. Student involvement in Branch activities, which includes social and technical meetings, outreach programs, conferences, local Section or Regional opportunities, etc. can help in academic and professional life. The IEEE Student Branch of FISAT was formed in 2003 with the motto, "Integrating Innovations" aimed at imparting technical skill sets to the students and raising the standards of the activities towards the society we serve.
Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
Founded in 1947, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is the world's largest educational and scientific computing society, delivering resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM student chapter provides unique opportunities for networking, mentoring and bonding over common interests. They provide support both within the student community and to local communities outside the institution. The ACM Student Branch of FISAT was formed on 22nd June 2016 with the aim of providing a gateway to forums, panel discussions, and symposia that further aids students professional development.
Computer Society of India (CSI)
Computer Society of India (CSI) is a body of computer professionals in India. It has 72 chapters and 511 student branches across India. CSI student branch at FISAT was established in 2006. CSI student branch has consecutively won the best student branch award in India. CSI Student branch regularly conducts talks and workshops with the aim of imparting knowledge on cutting edge technologies. CSI student branch has won the National Award for the Best CSI Student Chapter consecutively in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
FISAT Free Software Cell (FFSC)
The FISAT Free Software Cell (FFSC), established in 2006, is dedicated to promote computer users` rights to use, study, copy, modify, and redistribute computer programs. The FFSC promotes the development and use of free software, particularly the GNU operating system, used widely in its GNU/Linux variant. The Free Software Cell is one of the most active student organisations operating in FISAT. FFSC conducts sessions in the GNU/Linux operating system, programming and Web application development. ICEFOSS is a Conference for Enthusiasts of Free and Open Source Software (ICEFOSS) is a Free Software Conference organized by FISAT Free Software Cell (FFSC). ICEFOSS was started in 2010 and is one of the prime free software conferences in Kerala.
FISAT Consultancy Services (FCS)
FISAT Consultancy Services (FCS), was established in the year 2018 to mould young leaders of engineering for the services of society. FCS is incorporated for taking up consultancy projects in software related fields by involving students. FCS conducts regular weekly meetups for discussing various aspects of the development and conducts workshops in latest technologies.
Entrepreneurship and Research
Students can work with the Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) and Cognitive Computing Research Lab for research activities. Students can also make use of FISAT fablab, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) and Technology Business Incubator (TBI) to innovate and experiment.
Kerala Blockchain Academy Innovation Club (KBAIC)
Kerala Blockchain Academy Innovation Club (KBAIC) is a novel initiative by Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA) to help students from academic institutions across the country to explore deep into the potential of blockchain technology. KBAIC provides an opportunity to work closely with experts and experiment with the latest advancements in this domain.
