Student achievements during the academic year 2020-21
ECE department secured 2 ranks in the university for the 2016-20 batch. Ms.Athira S (FIT16EC046) secured 1st rank and Ms. Lakshmi Vijayan N (FIT16EC081) secured 8th rank in B.Tech ECE of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. This achievement added more feathers to the cap of the department.
Ms Devika S of final year (2017 admission), ECE won the IEEE Kerala section outstanding student WIE (Women in Engineering) volunteer award.
Ms Saiba Hameed P A of 2016-20 batch, ECE became gold honour winner in the ‘International astronomy and astrophysics competition 2020’ conducted by IAAC, Germany.
Nivedhitha M of 2020 admission secured third prize in power-play quiz and first prize in Mocelet, competitions organized by IEEE, FISAT.
11 project batches from the ECE department shortlisted to the final round of Innovation grant conducted by the Kerala startup mission.
21 project batches shortlisted to the IDEA FEST 2021 organized by Kerala Startup mission.
One project batch shortlisted to the YOUNG INNOVATORS PROGRAM (YIP) organized by Kerala Development and Strategic Council (K-DISC).
One project team shortlisted the KTU CERD fund.
Abhay Raj(S6 ECE A), Jose Ben(S4 ECE B), Aswin Sreeraj(S4 ECE A), Basil Leju(S6 CSA) selected for the final round of VAIGA Agri Hack 2021, Kerala’s largest agricultural hackathon conducted by the Government of Kerala Agricultural department.
Students of ECE got certified in around 648 online courses during the last academic year. These are the courses offered by leading universities in the world such as the University of Michigan, University of Georgia, University of Colorado, Stanford University, University of California, University of Colorado-Boulder, IITs, University of London, IBM, Google analytics academy, University at Buffalo, University of Washington, Johns Hopkins University, University of Toronto etc. Such courses were offered through online educational platforms such as Coursera, Udemy, Google analytics academy, NPTEL, Hortari Technologies etc to name a few. The most popular courses among students and the percentage based on the number of students who attended those courses are illustrated below.

Department secured 8th position among 138 colleges in B.Tech Examination June 2019 (Admission year 2015 – First Pass out batch under Kerala Technological University)
MINNU SIMON , [2015-2019] Secured Second Position in B.Tech, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (First Pass out Batch of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Among 138 Colleges) with a CGPA of 9.64.
ATHIRA S (2016 admission) of Electronics and Communication Department secured Outstanding Grade for all subjects in 3rd and 4th Semester B.Tech University Examinations with a CGPA of 9.81 till S7.
LAKSHMI VIJAYAN N (2016 admission) of Electronics and Communication Department secured Outstanding Grade for all subjects in 1st Semester B.Tech University Examinations with a CGPA of 9.59 till S7.
Athira S, Unnimaya K S and Sebin Thankachan, students of final year, ECE (2016 admission) qualified in GATE 2020.
86 students of ECE department successfully completed NPTEL courses during the academic year 2018-19.
Two academic projects of final year ECE were approved funding by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KCSTE) during the academic year 2019-20. The projects were ‘Borewell Rescue Robot’, guided by Noble G, Asst. Prof, ECE and ‘River Cleaning Robot’, guided by Nimmy M Philip, Asst. Prof, ECE.

Akhil Roy of 6th semester (2016 admission) secured 3rd prize in APJ AKTU Interzone athletics Javelin throw competition
Four students from M.Tech Communication Engineering and 7 students from M.Tech VLSI and Embedded Systems are selected for internship in reputed companies.
Aiswarya Gopinath and Hrishikesh Rajan of third year ECE (2016 admission) secured internship in TCS.

Ms. Lakshmi Vijayan N of Fourth Semester Electronics and Communication Department (2016 admission) secured 10 SGPA (outstanding grade) in the first semester B.Tech degree examination.
16 students completed various online NPTEL courses conducted by IITs and got certified.
Unnikrishnan and Kevin Antony of S7 ECE-B Won Second Prize in the Inter Department Mathematics Quiz competition for P V Mathew Memorial Trophy, FISAT.

HIMA MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT
HIMA MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT was an initiative from students of 2012-2016 batch in the evergreen memory of their classmate HIMA C.K after her untimely demise in 2015.Its presented yearly to one student from second year and one student from third year of Electronics &Communication Department. The award winners are chosen on the grounds of exceptional academic performance and all round excellence.

Faculty Achievements during academic year 2020-21
Appreciation letter was handed over to FISAT by ASAP (Additional Skill Acquisition Programme), Higher Education Department, Govt. of Kerala, for designing and developing an online portal for ASAP placement drive ASPIRE. IEEE FISAT SB developed a dynamic automated software to coordinate the placement activities for all graduates, postgraduates and diploma engineering students. The program named 'Aspire' is an initiative of ASAP and Higher Education Department, Kerala Govt., to provide quality placement and internships. FISAT got an opportunity to associate with this project.
Anoop E G, Asst. Prof, ECE completed RPA developer certification programme conducted by ASAP. It included a 1-week online workshop and 13 online Robotic process courses and an online assessment. As he has become a certified RPA professional, the ECE department can run the RPA courses for our students.
Dr Mini P R, Professor & HoD, ECE got selected as a member of KTU Board of studies.
The faculty of ECE has attended around 120 FDPs and workshops during the academic year 2020-21. This, in turn, helps teachers guide students in areas where they have developed expertise. The chart shown below illustrates the trending topics and the percentage share of faculty attended.

>> Sheelu Susan Mathews, Asst. Prof, ECE dept, was ranked 3rd in NPTEL online certification exam for the subject “Synthesis of digital systems” with a consolidated score of 88%. The course was coordinated by IIT Madras.
>> Ms. Vinitha V and Mr. Bejoy Varghese , Asst. Professors of ECE department, conducted online classes for students of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and received excellent feedback. Ms. Vinitha V taught the subject “VLSI (EC304)“ for 6th semester students and Mr. Bejoy Varghese taught the subject “Computer Organization (EC206)” for 4th Semester students of ECE, KTU.

>> Ms. Dhanya S and Ms. Subha Thomas was ranked among the top 1% in NPTEL certification course on “Teaching and learning in engineering”.
>> Ms. Christy Jose, Asst. Prof. ECE was ranked among the top 1% in NPTEL certification course on “Ethics in Engineering practice” and selected as the top performer in the FDP on “Mentoring educators in Educational Technology” conducted by IIT Bombay.
>> Ms. Aiswariya Raj and Ms. Manju C P were ranked among the top 5% in NPTEL certification course on “Teaching and learning in engineering”.
>> Ms. Deepa N R , Asst. Prof., ECE , selected as the top performer in the FDP on “Mentoring educators in Educational Technology” conducted by IIT Bombay.
>> Ms. Ambily A R, Asst. Prof., ECE , secured 2nd rank in Ph.D entrance examination and started Ph.D programme in APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University
>> During the academic year 2018-19, 26 faculty participated in various FDPs/STTPs and 18 faculty successfully completed NPTEL courses.

>> Ms. Jeslin P Jo, Assistant Professor, ECE ranked among top 5% of candidates in NPTEL certification course on “Effective engineering teaching in practice”.
MoU
Hortari Technologies Private Limited
Memorandum of understanding between ‘Hortari Technologies Private Limited’ and Electronics and Communication Department of Federal Institute of Science And Technology’ for partnering to launch the platform ‘Hortari Explorer’ (a service of ‘Hortari Technologies Pvt. Ltd.’) for the period of 15th september 2019 to 15th september 2023.
The general objective of the MoU is to stimulate and facilitate the skill development of college student through the Hortari platform and other services provided by the Hortari,independently or in collaboration with other third parties or with the college itself to nourish and develop the college students during the period they are enrolled in the college. Thus, both the parties mentioned above agree to support each other in their mutual interest within the terms and conditions specified therein.
Hortari is a platform where companies create a milestone-based career track for their future talent requirements. Students can complete these milestones and get noticed by companies. College and institutions can fast track the career growth of their student with direct feedback from leading companies and performance coach assigned by Hortari.

Keltron
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), initiated by ECE Department,was signed on 6th October 2015 between KELTRON and FISAT. Through this MoU, KELTRON will provide the following supports to FISAT.
Impart Training and skill development for students and staff.
Impart internship for selected PG students on live projects based on interview and availability of the projects at KELTRON.
Association on joint consultancy works.
Faculty support from KELTRON on specific topics in the syllabus.
Impart training for FISAT staff on latest technologies available at KELTRON
Impart long term training for FISAT to enhance employability without affecting FISAT regular class timings.
MoU with luure.ai
Electronics & Communication Engineering department, FISAT has made a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Luure.ai on 1st day of July, 2020. Luure.ai is an LLP company incorporated under Govt of India and having Corporate Offices at 5th floor Amstor building, Technopark,Trivandrum. Luure.ai is actively engaged in providing Artificial Intelligence based solutions.
Luure.ai supports FISAT in the following areas:
Module-1: Impart training and skill development programs for students and staff.
Module-2: Impart internship for selected UG and PG students on live projects based on interview and availability of the projects at luure.
Module-3: Association on joint consultancy works.
Module-4: Faculty support from luure on specific topics in the syllabus.
