Profile

 

Dr. Jiji Antony currently serves as the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, FISAT. She obtained her PhD from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala in the area of Sustainable Building Materials. Her academic background includes Master’s Degree in Computer Aided Structural Engineering from Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. Kothamanglam, as well as B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the same institution which she has completed in 1995. She embarked on her teaching career as a Lecturer at Bharatiyar College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu in 1998. Following this, she served as an Assistant Professor at S.C.M.S School of Engineering, Karukutty for a period of 2 years. Since 2005, she is working in Department of Civil Engineering at Federal Institute of Science and Technology, Angamaly, Kerala, India. In recognition of her achievements, she received several awards, including the Best Thesis Award from the Indian Concrete Institue (ICI Awards ’21), in 2021, Best Paper awards at the International Conferences SECON’18 and SECON’20, State Horticulture Mission Award in 2017, People’s Forum for Sustainable Development (PSFD) Award in 2016 and Best teacher award from FISAT in the year 2015.

Her primary area of interest lies in sustainable building materials, where she explores innovative and eco-friendly construction materials. In the field of modern construction practices, she conducts research and experiments to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of contemporary building techniques. Carbon footprint analysis is another significant focus , aiming to measure and reduce the environmental impact of construction processes and materials.

Dr. Jiji Antony served as the Nature club coordinator at FISAT. Her strong passion towards agriculture played a crucial role in introducing the Polyhouse farming facility at FISAT, marking it as the pioneering initiative among engineering colleges. She is a dedicated environmentalist, she led efforts to establish plastic- free zones in ecologically sensitive areas with in the Western Ghats region
