Ms. Rinu J Achison is a Civil Engineering educator with over 16 years of experience in academia. She holds a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from SCMS School of Engineering and Technology (2006) and an M.Tech degree in Hydraulics Engineering from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum (2011). Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Hydrology and Remote Sensing at the National Institute of Technology Calicut.
Ms. Achison began her professional journey as an Engineer at Good Earth Estates before joining the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) in 2007. Over the years, she has taught a wide range of subjects including Fluid Mechanics, Water Resources Engineering, Design of Hydraulic Structures, Quantity Surveying and Valuation, and Basic Civil Engineering.
An active contributor to institutional development, she serves in several key roles such as ISO Coordinator, IQAC Joint Convenor, and Resident Warden of the Ladies Hostel. She has also played vital roles in accreditation and quality assurance processes as a Department IQAC, NAAC, and NBA Coordinator.
Her research interests span Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Hydraulics, Remote Sensing, and Machine Learning. She has published research in reputed journals and conferences, and guided student projects focused on flood assessment and remote sensing applications.
Ms. Achison is a life member of the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). She has also served in various academic leadership roles, including Program Chair of the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECONā24) and Finance Chair of SECONā22 and SECONā23.
She has actively pursued continuous learning, completing NPTEL courses on Advanced Geomatics Engineering, Microwave Remote Sensing in Hydrology, and Data Science with R. Her commitment to student development is evident in her mentorship through the ICI Student Chapter at FISAT and her involvement as a resource person and conference session chair across institutions.
