Instrumentation is a pioneer field of engineering in the modern era. In this fast growing age of automation and process industries, instrumentation engineer is an inevitable choice of every industry. Unfortunately in India, we are lacking in number of instrumentation engineers. So it is very essential and relevant in implementing a department which moulds young talents in the field of instrumentation. With that view we have started the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering in the year of 2002. The annual intake is 60.
The thrust areas includes
Instrument design and Development
Sensor design and development
Fuzzy logic and neural networks
The department consists of highly qualified and eminent faculty members with immense knowledge and vast experience in teaching and industry.
For the last eight years, the department has made several achievements in the field of technical education. It is proud to announce our students had achieved First and Second ranks in the M G University examinations from 2006 to 2009 as a continuum. A large number of students from our department were placed in national and multinational companies.
The department has well equipped laboratories such as "Transducers and Measurements Lab", "Instrumentation Lab", and fully automated "Process Control Lab" which are essentially necessary for the students to excel in practical fields of instrumentation.
An association named IDEA is working under the department of EIE. Various activities such as seminars, quiz competitions, group discussions, technical paper presentations and invited experts` talks are being carried out in this association. An electronic hobby club and Readers` forum are working under IDEA.
To emerge as a leader in a electronics and instrumentation engineering by imparting futuristic and comprehensive education upholding high sense of ethical integrity and social commitment.
The department has a research and consultancy centre named "Instrumentation Research And Consultancy Centre" (IRACC). IRACC is conducting various research activities in the field of applied sciences and Instrumentation. Research team includes staff members and students. IRACC is publishing a monthly research bulletin named "Instron". The intention of this bulletin is to improve the technical writing skills of the staff and students of the department. The bulletin is also intended to transfer the output of research that is being carried out under IRACC. It is also working as an effective medium for knowledge transfer.
