COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

Computer Science students consistently bagged top spots in the University Examinations. A large number of students from our department get placed every year in national and multinational companies. The department also takes initiative for the conduct of various inter/intra collegiate competitions to improve the skills of students. The students are also provided with the finest opportunities to join various professional societies like ACM, IEEE, CSI, etc. CSI student branch has consecutively won the best student branch award.

Department is active in college NPTEL Local Chapter (rated with ‘A’ grade) through which students can join online courses offered by IIT’s. The department has been organizing programmes like ICE-FOSS (Free Software Conference) in association with FISAT Free Software Cell (FFSC) and International Conference on Advanced Computing & Communication Technologies. The department has also been continuously hosting Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) funded workshops in association with IIT’s through National Mission in Education through ICT (NMEICT) programme.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is doing exceedingly well in the fields of higher education, research and consultancy. The department has an incubation centre and an industry institute partnership cell, which is started in collaboration with various IT companies. A student led consultancy cell called FISAT Consultancy Services (FCS) has also been set up by the department. Department has Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oracle Academy, Red Hat and Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), Government of Kerala for equipping students with industry ready skills. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, FISAT Incubation Centre envisions to provide a platform to the budding student entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas by offering mentoring support and facilitating interactions with industry. The Department has also shown its social commitment by conducting awareness programmes on technology related aspects for the public.

CSE department has well equipped computer laboratories with more than 800 computers and a High Performance Computing Centre for research and project activities.  The department has the latest infrastructure facilities with high speed Internet, advanced software labs, hardware labs, seminar halls and classrooms equipped with LCD projectors.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND DESIGN

B.Tech in Computer Science and Design(CSD)  is one of the most sought-after programs in the bucket of emerging engineering programmes put forward by AICTE in 2021. The Computer Science and Engineering department at FISAT offers the programme. Besides the fundamentals of Computer Science, the student can get well-versed in design aesthetics, User Interface Design, Virtual Reality ,Computer Graphics, and Game Development.  The students get exposure to multimedia tools and Unity-3D in their laboratory sessions. The elective choices in the programme are crafted to give students exposure to design and animation. The programme not only gives students exposure to computing technologies and imparts programming skills, but also makes them experienced in design approaches.A B.Tech degree in Computer Science and design equips students to work in the IT industry and also extends their scope to get employed in the media, animation and game development industry.
