Introduction

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the year 2002. The annual intake of students for the B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering course is 120, B.Tech Computer Science and Design is 60, M.Tech (CSIS) is 12 and M.Tech (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science) is 12. Department is also recognized by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University as a research centre for PhD programmes. The department has competent and committed faculty which encourages students’ involvement in various co-curricular activities along with their academics. Computer Science students consistently bagged top spots in the University Examinations. A large number of students from our department get placed every year in national and multinational companies. The department also takes initiative for the conduct of various inter/intra collegiate competitions to improve the skills of students. The students are also provided with the finest opportunities to join various professional societies like ACM, IEEE, CSI, etc. CSI student branch has consecutively won the best student branch award.

Department is active in the college NPTEL Local Chapter (rated with ‘A’ grade) through which students can join online courses offered by IIT’s. The department has been organizing programmes like ICE-FOSS (Free Software Conference) in association with FISAT Free Software Cell (FFSC) and International Conference on Advanced Computing & Communication Technologies. The department has also been continuously hosting Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) funded workshops in association with IIT’s through National Mission in Education through ICT (NMEICT) programme.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is doing exceedingly well in the fields of higher education, research and consultancy. The department has an incubation centre and an industry institute partnership cell, which is started in collaboration with various IT companies. A student-led consultancy cell called FISAT Consultancy Services (FCS) has also been set up by the department. Department has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oracle Academy, Red Hat and Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), Government of Kerala for equipping students with industry-ready skills. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, FISAT Incubation Centre envisions to provide a platform to the budding student entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas by offering mentoring support and facilitating interactions with industry. The Department has also shown its social commitment by conducting awareness programmes on technology related aspects for the public. 

CSE department has well-equipped computer laboratories with more than 800 computers and a High-Performance Computing Centre for research and project activities.  The department has the latest infrastructure facilities with high-speed Internet, advanced software labs, hardware labs, seminar halls and classrooms equipped with LCD projectors.

Admission (Management Quota)

Eligibility Criteria 

MCA (Two Year)

  • Passed any graduation degree (e.g.: B.E. / B.Tech./ B.Sc / B.Com. / B.A./ B. Voc./ BCA etc.,) preferably with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduation level
  • Obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying examination.
  • Must qualify entrance examination conducted by a competent authority as per the rules and regulations of KTU/AICTE/Govt.

Integrated MCA

  • Passed 10+2 (SSLC and Plus 2) Examination. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in the qualifying Examination.

Additionally, candidates who have not studied Mathematics at the higher secondary level will be required to complete a compulsory bridge course formulated by the University. Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply for admission provided they shall produce the proof of qualification on or before the date of admission by the College

Mode of Selection

The selection process involves the following criteria:

  • Marks obtained in qualifying examination
  • Performance in the department Test/Interview.
  • Candidates securing the required cut-off marks will be shortlisted for counseling.

Final selection will be based on academic merit, considered during counseling. Admission confirmation will be subject to verification of documents.

Candidates will be admitted only if they possess the marks eligible for admission as per University and Govt. Norms for the qualifying examination and entrance examination.

How to Apply?

  • Candidates can submit applications ONLINE
  • Applications should be complete in all respects. A candidate will be considered for admission, only if he/she has furnished the relevant certificates prescribed in the Prospectus, in proof of eligibility.
  • During the online application process, the candidate is required to fill the form online using the link given above, pay the application fees of  Rs.350 (Net banking/Debit card/Credit card), update the marks when available, and upload the necessary documents.

Documents to be produced

  1. Mark List and Pass Certificate (wherever applicable) of Plus II / Equivalent in original.
  2. Two self-attested copies of the above Mark List and Pass Certificate.
  3. SSLC/ Secondary Examination certificate in original for proof of age; with two self-attested copies.
  4. Degree Certificate and Mark lists with two self-attested copies each.
  5. Physical fitness certificate from a Government Medical Practitioner.
  6. Transfer Certificate in original from the Institution last studied.
  7. Course and conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last studied.
  8. Migration certificate in original, for students who have passed degree from universities out of Kerala.
  9. Eligibility certificate from KTU, for students who have passed degree from universities out of Kerala.
  10. Admit card of Entrance Examination in original (If available).
  11. Result sheet of the Entrance Examination in original (If available).
  12. Four passport size & three stamp size (color) photographs.
  13. True copy of Aadhaar card.
  14. A candidate who is employed or is a trainee in Govt. / Quasi Govt. /Banks etc. shall, at the time of interview, produce a relieving order and a certificate of good conduct from the head of the institution where the candidate was employed.
