
The AICTE Idea Lab aims to boost innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning for engineering students by providing resources to turn theory into practical solutions and prototypes.

Proposed activities of AICTE IDEA Lab
The proposed AICTE IDEA Lab activities focus on fostering innovation, practical skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset among students and faculty. Key activities include:

AICTE IDEA Lab Financial Support
The AICTE IDEA Lab scheme provides one-third financial assistance to institutions for the establishment and upkeep of innovation centers. The total allocated sum for the scheme is ninety lakh rupees, of which thirty lakhs will be contributed by AICTE. An additional thirty lakhs is required to be secured from industries or alumni. The FISAT Alumni association generously contributed thirty lakh rupees towards this initiative.Additionally FISAT Management has contributed an amount of 50 lakhs for furnishing the lab.
FISAT AICTE IDEA LAbĀ
The FISAT AICTE IDEA Lab, sanctioned in February 2025 and funded in May 2025, has completed major equipment procurement, including a PCB milling machine, four 3D printers, a laser cutter, a wood router, and fully equipped workbenches . The necessary ideation, prototyping, and tutorial rooms were furnished by August 2025. Programmatic activities began on August 18, 2025, as per AICTE schedule.
Within the three months succeeding this commencement, we have successfully conducted several key programs, specifically Upskilling programs, Maker Hours (an IDEA Lab familiarization program), and Launch Pad (a program introducing first-year students to the lab).
Additionally, the FISAT AICTE IDEA Lab organized a three-day rehabilitation program for mentally challenged individuals residing in the Mookkannoor area. The IDEA Lab faculty team identified five beneficiaries from the Buds school within Mookkannoor Panchayath for this event, which took place from December 3rd to December 5th. The primary objectives of this initiative were to empower participants with practical skills in design and prototyping, to introduce entrepreneurial opportunities conducive to self-reliance, and to provide hands-on exposure to modern tools and technologies. The event was conducted successfully, and follow-up actions to support the Buds school in obtaining grants for establishing a dedicated rehabilitation center are currently in progress.
The FISAT AICTE IDEA Lab also conducted the "Science Safari" program for the benefit of school students from Vidyodaya and Ideal Public School in Aluva. A total of 132 students participated in and benefited from this program, which was held from February 3rd to February 6th, 2026.
Our Lab actively supports student projects, and we are pleased to report a notable achievement: a project developed entirely within the IDEA Lab secured the third prize in the All India competition of ASME EFx India 2026, held in Jaipur. Furthermore, twelve other projects are currently under development within the IDEA Lab. The Lab remains committed to fostering student innovation by offering comprehensive support, encompassing technical guidance, fabrication assistance, and financial provision for the acquisition of project-specific consumables.
