Rules and Regulations

General Discipline, Conduct and Behavior:

  1. Students should attend the College neatly and decently dressed in their uniforms.
  2. Students coming late shall enter the class only with the permission of the teacher.
  3. Students should get prior written permission from the Principal to organize any function or collect funds.
  4. No student shall represent any club or association without getting permission from the Principal.
  5. Use of alcoholic liquors, smoking and chewing are prohibited in the campus.
  6. Ragging is strictly prohibited. Students found guilty will be seriously dealt with and the disciplinary action taken may even end up in their dismissal.
  7. Students should refrain from participation in any political party activities or communal politics inside the campus.
  8. All the students should observe their dress code in their laboratories and workshops.
  9. Students should attend lecture classes, submit assignments, records, home work etc. in time.
  10. Students taking leave should address their application of leave to the Principal and submit the same to the group advisor before availing the leave.
  11. Any act of indiscipline that causes serious threat to the discipline in the campus would be severely dealt with. Use of mobile phones/i-pods is strictly prohibited in the college.
  12. Students should not use mobile phones with facility to take photos in the campus. Such phones even if switched off will be confiscated and fined.



  1. Uniform is compulsory for all students.
  2. Students should wear uniform while attending college. Wearing shoes is also compulsory. Weatherproof shoes may be used in rainy season.
  3. During workshop sessions all students have to wear workshop coats.
  4. Uniform shall be loosely stitched and shall NOT be stitched tightly.
  5. Shirts shall have only one pocket.
  6. Jackets shall be stitched without pocket.

Uniform Specifications:

BOYS – SLACK SHIRT – PANTS with shirt tucked in and belt 2.5cm wide, black colour – BLACK SHOES with dark blue SOCKS
Uniforms and workshop coat will be provided from the college on payment. Separate colours are specified for B.Tech, MBA & MCA .

Attendance And Leave Regulations

  1. Any student who is not present in the class when the attendance is taken will be marked as absent.
  2. Absent in one or more periods in a session will be marked as absent for the full session.
  3. Every student should put in 75% attendance. Otherwise, the student will not be allowed to appear for the University examination of that semester. The students will have to repeat the term unless the university authorities condone the shortage of attendance.
  4. A student whose attendance is 65% or above, but below 75% only can apply for condonation, if the shortage is due to genuine reasons such as representing the college in games, sports, seminars etc. or illness duly certified by a medical officer. In such cases, the student must have applied for leave before or during the period of absence in writing. Condonation for the shortage is allowed only twice during the full course.
  5. A student who is not eligible for condonation of shortage of attendance shall repeat the course in full. Permission to repeat the course and attending classes in the college will be at the sole discretion of the college authorities.
  6. University rules, existing as well as future amendments regarding attendance requirements will be strictly followed.


Prevention of Ragging in Technical Institutions
As per the decision of the Supreme court of INDIA in writ Petition No. (C) 656/1998, Ragging is Strictly Prohibited.

What is ragging?

As per the UGC Regulations, 2009, ‘Ragging’ constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:

  1. Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student;
  2. Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student;
  3. Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student;
  4. Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher;
  5. Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
  6. Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students;
  7. Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
  8. Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student;
  9. Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

Ragging is prohibited inside or outside the Educational Institution. Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or propagates ragging within, or outside the Educational Institution shall on conviction will be punished.

All the senior students are strictly warned against getting involved into such an unbailable crime and all are requested to desist from such activities for not endangering their future.
Collection of contribution in any form or demanding anything inkind from junior students is totally banned.



Sub: Formation of Institute level anti -ragging committee and squads – Reg.

Ref: Directives of the Supreme Court of India , dated May 16,2007 in SLP No (s) 24295 of 2006 University of Kerala Vs Council, Principals’, Colleges, Kerala & Ors (with SLP(C) No.24296-99/2004 & W.P. (Crl) No. 173/2006 and SLP(C) No.14356/ 2005).

The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India admitted and heard the above referred SLPs in relation to the menace of ragging in Technical Institutions/ Universities/ Colleges in the Countr

In this connection, a committee headed by Dr. R.K. Raghavan, former Director of CBI, for giving specific recommendations on effective prevention of ragging in educational institutions wasconstituted by the apex court.

Accordingly, the Committee had carried out a very detailed study on the various factors contributing for ragging and collected the public opinion. Further, the committee had submitted a detailed report with suitable recommendations and measures required to effectively curb the menace. The recommendations of the Committee were duly accepted and the following directives have been issued to all the educational institutes for necessary implementation by the Hon’ble Court.

I. Factors enlisted by the committee:

  1. Primary responsibility for curbing ragging rests with academic institutions themselves.
  2. Ragging adversely impacts the standards of higher education.
  3. Incentives should be available to institutions for curbing the menace and there should be disincentives for failure to do so.
  4. Enrolment in academic pursuits or a campus life should not immunize any adult citizen from penal provisions of the laws of the land.
  5. Ragging needs to be perceived as failure to inculcate human values from the schooling stage.
  6. Behavioural patterns among students, particularly potentiafgl `raggers`, need to be identified.
  7. Measures against ragging must deter its recurrence.
  8. Concerted action is required at the level of the school, higher educational institution, district administration, university, State and Central Governments to make any curb effective.
  9. Media and the Civil Society should be involved in this exercise.

II. Recommendations approved by the Supreme Court:

  1. The punishment to be meted out has to be exemplary and justifiably harsh to act as a deterrent against recurrence of such incidents.
  2. Every single incident of ragging where the victim or his parent/guardian or the Head of institution is not satisfied with the institutional arrangement for action, a First Information Report must be filed without exception by the institutional authorities with the local police authorities. Any failure on the part of the institutional authority or negligence or deliberate delay in lodging the FIR with the local police shall be construed to be an act of culpable negligence on the part of the institutional authority. If any victim or his parent/guardian of ragging intends to file FIR directly with the police, that will not absolve the institutional authority from the requirement of filing the FIR.
  3. In the prospectus to be issued for admission by educational institutions, it shall be clearly stipulated that in case the applicant for admission is found to have indulged in ragging in the past or if it is noticed later that he has indulged in ragging, admission may be refused or he shall be expelled from the educational institution.
  4. It shall be the collective responsibility of the authorities and functionaries of the concerned institution and their role shall also be open to scrutiny for the purpose of finding out whether they have taken effective steps for preventing ragging and in case of their failure, action can be taken; for example, denial of any grant-in-aid or assistance from the State Governments.
  5. Anti-ragging committees and squads shall be forthwith formed by the institutions and it shall be the job of the committee or the squad, as the case may be, to see that the Committee`s recommendations, more particularly those noted above, are observed without exception and if it is noticed that there is any deviation, the same shall be forthwith brought to the notice of this Court.
  6. The Committee constituted pursuant to the order of this Court shall continue to monitor the functioning of the anti -ragging committees and the squads to be formed. They shall also monitor the implementation of the recommendations to which reference has been made above.

III. Action Taken by the Institute:

(1) Formation of Committees & Squads: Complying with the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Institute has formed the following Anti–ragging committees and squads for overseeing the implementation of the provisions of the verdict with immediate effect:

i) Institute level Anti-ragging Committee:

  • Dean, Students’ Counseling Chairman
  • Dean, UG Member
  • Dean, PG Member
  • Dean, R&IL Member
  • Chief Hostel Warden Member
  • Prof.-Incharge, Security Member
  • Prof.-Incharge, Students’ welfare Member

ii) Institute level Anti-ragging Squads:

  • Dean, Students’ Counseling Chairman
  • All HODs/their nominee Member
  • Chief Hostel Warden Member
  • Council of Wardens Member

iii) Hostel Level Anti-ragging Squads:

  • Chief Hostel Warden* Chairman
  • Council of Wardens Member

*Chief Hostel Warden is empowered to form various anti-ragging teams of faculty members in consultation with Dean, Student counseling to take regular visits in hostels.
(2) Undertaking from Students and Parents:

  • Each of the student of the Ins titute and his/her parents and, or Guardian are hereby required to submit a combined undertaking at the time of registration, in the prescribed format as attached to this order, which is mandatory for registration.
  • All concerned officials of the Institute , students, parents & guardians of the students, members of Anti –ragging committees & Anti-ragging squads are hereby requested to adhere to the stipulations and effectively monitor and comply with the provisions made in the directives.
