Add on programs
The department of Civil Engineering offers add on programs with an objective to supplement the B.Tech curriculum so that students are employable and industry ready by the time they graduate. There add on programs are offered with the help of internal as well as external resources. Students who successfully complete these programs are issued certificates.
1. Add on Course on Building Planning and design using Autocad
About the course: To introduce the students to the basics of building planning and preparation of drawings. They will also have an insight into preparation of 3D model
At the end of the course students will be able to
CO1. Capture the requirement of a client with regard to his building
CO2. Apply the basic principles of planning and prepare drawings of residential building which comply with building rules
CO3. Prepare the models of buildings using 3D modelling software
CO4. Present the plan and model to a client
2. Green Home Tech Workshop
About the course: To introduce the students to the basics of light gauge steel fabrication. They will have classroom learning, hands on training and site visit associated with this course
3. Add on Course on water proofing and Insulation
About the course: The add on course gives importance to the methods and procedures of waterproofing and helps to mould the students to become consultants in the future.
4. Academic adoption program by BIM labs
5. Add on Course on Building Planning
About the course: The course intends to give the student a real life experience in the planning process of a building, right from client requirement discussion, to site visit, to planning, sketching, drawing and presenting the plan.
At the end of the course students will be able to
CO1. Develop a plan within a given plot in accordance with building rules
CO2. Prepare a drawing of residential building
CO3. Present plans and drawings before a committee
6.Imagination and Beyond: Add-on course on building planning and drafting
To introduce the students to planning and preparing drawings by manual and machine drafting
At the end of the course, students will be able to
CO1. Prepare plans for small residential buildings by manual drafting
CO2. Prepare plans using AutoCAD software
7. Introduction to LaTex
About the course: LaTeX is a software system for document preparation. LaTeX is widely used in academia for the communication and publication of scientific documents in many fields, including mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, linguistics, quantitative psychology, philosophy, and political science. The course gives a detailed overview of latex and trains the students on how to prepare a report using it.
At the end of the course, students will be able to
CO1 .To familiarize with the programming features of latex
CO2. To identify and use syntax for the creation of tables, figures, and referring styles
CO3.To understand the features of the class file.
8. Overview of provisions in building rules, registration and approval procedures
About the course: This course intends to build a thorough knowledge among fresh engineering students about the procedures for getting registered as licensed engineer, Building rules and regulations, the documentation required for purchasing land, and getting building permits.
At the end of the course, students will be able to
CO1 . To make the students aware of the procedure of purchase and sale of land or property
CO2. To understand the existing building rules.
CO3. To make students aware of the procedure for obtaining an engineer’s license and sanction of the constructed building.
9. Building Information Modelling
About the course: Building information modeling (BIM) is a process supported by various tools, technologies and contracts involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. BIM software is used by individuals, businesses and government agencies who plan, design, construct, operate and maintain buildings and diverse physical infrastructures, such as water, refuse, electricity, gas, communication utilities, roads, railways, bridges, ports and tunnels. This course introduces the students to the basics of BIM and gives a hands-on experience in REVIT Architecture.
At the end of the course, students will be able to
CO1. Prepare plans of residential buildings
CO2. Prepare 3D models of residential buildings
