Established in 2006, the Department of Computer Applications at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) offers a distinguished two-year MCA programme with an annual intake of 60 students, an integrated MCA programme with an annual intake of 60 students and a PhD Programme. Affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and recognized by AICTE, these programmes aim to empower individuals aspiring to excel in the field of technology.

The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme is a two-year postgraduate programme that focuses on the study of information technology and computer science. The Integrated MCA programme, introduced to cater to the evolving demands of the industry, is a five-year programme designed for students who have completed their higher secondary education. Covering a wide array of subjects—including programming languages, advanced data structures, databases, software engineering, web development, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence—both MCA programmes enable students to specialize in specific areas of computer science, enhancing their expertise and increasing employability in the dynamic IT industry.

The department’s mission revolves around achieving academic excellence by providing quality education, enhancing students’ mastery skills, and offering professional training to ensure their readiness for successful careers, with a strong emphasis on social commitment. The department’s strategic planning at the outset of each academic year aims to position itself as a center of excellence in professional education while upholding a commitment to continuous quality assurance.

Backed by a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty members with substantial expertise, the department consistently secures top positions in University Examinations. The vibrant placement cell plays a pivotal role in facilitating excellent job opportunities in renowned MNCs, including IBM, TCS, G10X, IBS, CTS, SOTI, and leading banks like Federal Bank. To bridge the gap between industry and academia, the department organizes industry-readiness training programs, domain expert workshops, and extracurricular activities to enrich students’ knowledge and skills. Annual initiatives such as conferences, faculty development programmes, workshops, expert talks, project exhibitions, and personality development courses further contribute to the department’s reputation for excellence.
