The Department takes pride in its strong and active alumni network, which continues to contribute significantly to the academic and professional development of our students. Rewind, the Alumni Association of the Department, regularly engages with the department through “MyStories” experience-sharing sessions, placement orientation programmes, hands-on training sessions, and career guidance activities.
The alumni have also extended valuable support to students through financial assistance and contributions such as laptops, helping students in need meet their academic requirements. Alumni Meets provide opportunities for alumni, faculty, and students to reconnect, share experiences, and strengthen professional relationships.
Beyond formal programmes, many of our alumni regularly visit the department, interact with students and faculty, and share their professional experiences and expertise. Their continued involvement reflects the strong bond between the department and its alumni and their commitment to supporting the growth and development of the student community.
MyStories
My Stories is an initiative of Rewind, the Alumni Association of the Department of Computer Applications, aimed at strengthening the bond between students and alumni. The initiative provides a platform for alumni working in reputed organizations across the globe to share their experiences, career journeys, challenges, and professional insights with junior batches. Through these sessions, students gain valuable guidance on career opportunities, placements, interviews, professional skills, and personal growth. The sessions are conducted regularly, creating an opportunity for students to interact directly with accomplished alumni and learn from their experiences.
Hands-on Training / Technical Talks
Hands-on Training and Technical Talks are another important contribution of Rewind, the Alumni Association of the Department of Computer Applications. Alumni working in diverse areas of the IT industry regularly share their technical expertise and practical knowledge with students through hands-on training sessions, technical talks, and expert sessions. These programmes help students gain exposure to emerging technologies, industry practices, tools, and real-world applications, complementing their academic learning and enhancing their technical skills and industry readiness.
Placement Orientation
Placement Orientation sessions conducted with the support of Rewind provide students with valuable insights into the recruitment process and the expectations of the IT industry. Alumni share their professional experiences and guide students on resume preparation, interview skills, aptitude and technical preparation, communication skills, and career opportunities. These interactions help students understand the placement process from an industry perspective and prepare themselves with greater confidence for their transition from campus to the professional world.
Financial Support
The alumni network have also extended valuable support to students through financial assistance and contributions towards essential academic resources. Alumni have provided financial support to students in need and have also contributed laptops to help students access the technology required for their academic activities.
Alumni Meets
The Department organizes Alumni Meets as a platform for alumni, faculty, and students to reconnect, share experiences, and strengthen their association with the department. These gatherings provide an opportunity to celebrate the continued contributions of our alumni, foster professional networking, and build lasting connections between the department and its alumni community.
Alumni Meet 2023 : The Alumni Association of the Department of Computer Applications, Rewind, organized Rewind 2023 on 1 May 2023 at the FISAT campus. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 95 alumni from various batches, along with faculty members, students, and family members. The gathering was welcomed by Dr. Deepa Mary Mathews, Head of the Department of Computer Applications. Mr. Bejoy K. Jose, alumnus of the 2006 batch, Senior System Analyst at Microsoft, and President of Rewind, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong connections with the department and contributing to its growth. Dr. Santhosh Kottam, Senior Faculty Member and former head of the department felicitated the gathering and appreciated the alumni for their continued support. The event featured vibrant stage performances by students of the MCA 2022 batch, along with cultural performances by alumni and their family members. The meet provided an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater, reminisce about their college days, share professional experiences, and express their willingness to support departmental activities. The gathering concluded at 7:30 PM, leaving behind cherished memories and further strengthening the bond between the department and its alumni.
Alumni Meet 2019: Rewind 2K19, the Alumni Association of the Department of Computer Applications, organized an Alumni Meet on 27 April 2019 at the FISAT campus. Around 50 alumni from various batches participated in the gathering and reminisced about their college days. Mr. Santhosh Kottam, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Bejoy K. Jose, Senior System Analyst, UST London, and President of Rewind, presided over the function. Dr. C. Sheela, Vice Principal, FISAT, felicitated the gathering. Ms. Deepa Mary Mathews, Rewind and NBA Coordinator, highlighted the important role of alumni in supporting the department and contributing to the NBA accreditation process. The event was enriched by stage performances by students of the S2 Regular 2018 batch. As part of strengthening the alumni network, the existing Alumni Committee was expanded by including representatives from different batches. The alumni shared their experiences and expressed their willingness to extend continued support to various departmental activities. The meeting concluded at 6:00 PM, with a renewed sense of connection and commitment among the alumni, faculty, and department.
