IEEE FISAT SB EVENT
30/07/2024

The second edition of RIDE (Rural Initiative for Digital Empowerment) was hosted at CVM Higher Secondary School, Vandazhi, Palakkad. RIDE is an initiative focused on promoting digital empowerment in rural areas, and this event featured workshops in four main domains: IoT and Robotics, C-Programming and UI-UX Design.

The IoT and Robotics workshop was mentored by Anoushka and Joseph Thomas, both 4th-year Electronics and Communication Engineering students at FISAT. Anoushka serves as the Secretary of IEEE FISAT SB, while Joseph is the RAS Chair of IEEE FISAT SB. The workshop covered the basics of the Internet of Things, including sensors, actuators, Arduino programming, and Raspberry Pi. Students were introduced to two projects: a chatbot and a line follower robot, which sparked their curiosity about IoT and robotics. The team also guided the students through basic experiments using the Arduino IDE.

The UI-UX Design workshop was led by Godwin Kunjumon, a 4th-year Electronics and Communication Engineering student and the Technical Coordinator of IEEE FISAT SB, alongside Ajay Krishna, a 4th-year Computer and Design Engineering student and the Content and Student Development Program Coordinator of IEEE FISAT SB. They covered the elements and theoretical aspects of UI-UX design and introduced students to Figma, a popular design tool.

The C-Programming workshop was mentored by Isac John, a 4th-year Computer Science Engineering student and Vice Chair of IEEE FISAT SB, and Bhavana R. Nair, a 4th-year Electronics and Instrumentation student and Chair of IEEE FISAT SB. The workshop focused on basic programming concepts, keywords, and syntax. Students were divided into groups and engaged in hands-on programming exercises.

The event concluded with a closing ceremony inaugurated by Babu Sir, the principal of CVM Higher Secondary School. He shared his feedback on the event, praising the team members for their hard work and excellent communication skills.

The second edition of RIDE was a resounding success, inspiring students and igniting their interest in various fields of technology.
