The Indian Concrete Institute Student Chapter of FISAT was inaugurated by Dr.Anil Joseph, Chairman, ICI, Kochi Centre on 12 April 2023. Sri.Shimith P. R., Chairman, Governing body, FISAT presided over the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Elson John, Vice Chairman of ICI Kochi Centre and HoD of MA College of Engineering. Dr.Manoj George, Principal,FISAT, Dr. Mini P. R., Dean Academics, Dr.Jiji Antony, Head of the Department, Dr.Kavitha P E and Ms.Rinu J Achison, Faculty coordinators of the FISAT Student Chapter and Catherine Joby and Abhishek Rajesh Nair, the Student coordinators were also present. During his inaugural address, Dr. Anil Joseph emphasized that the students should utilize every opportunity they get to be acquainted with the industry practices and Dr. Elson John enlightened the students about the importance and role of concrete in the Civil Engineering industry. The inaugural function was followed by two technical sessions which was attended by BTech and MTech students of Department of Civil Engineering. The first session was delivered by Dr. Anil Joseph on the topic “Sustainable Construction Practices” and the second session was delivered by Dr. Elson John, Vice Chairman, ICI Kochi centre, on the topic “Past, Present and Future of Concrete”. The sessions were highly informative and the Department looks forward to organising more such technical sessions in association with ICI
