The 11th edition of ICEFOSS 2023, a national free software conference jointly organized by FISAT Free Software Cell and ACM Student Chapter under was held from April 2 to 4. A 36-hour long Hackathon [HackFIT 2.0] and 6 hands-on workshops are the highlights of this year’s ICEFOSS. More than 140 participants in 30 teams participated in the hackathon, which focused on socially relevant topics such as food security, waste management and fire, and wildlife and human safety. Web Development (Mohit Rajan E Software Engineer Big Binary), Rust Workshop (Benjamin James Design Engineer, Digital Core Technologies), AR Development Spark AR (Akarsh Ashok, Mentor Xtrude AR, Divyend Suresh, DevOps Engineer) Go Workshop (Dev Arvind Software Engineer Dexlock ) and Flutter Workshop (Nino Joy Trainee Software Engineer White Rabbit Group Inc) was attended by more than 250 tech enthusiasts.
Icefoss 2023 was inaugurated by Dr K Kesavasamy (Former Head of Academic Interface Program – TCS). He discussed with the students of FISAT the need to acquire deep fundamental knowledge of technologies. FISAT Chairman Mr. Schimith P R presided over the inaugural session. Principal Dr Manoj George, Dean Dr Mini PR and Head Computer Science and Engineering Dr Jyotish K John addressed the gathering. The representatives of Experion Technologies, the main sponsors of ICEFOSS and HackFIT 2.0, Mr. Sam George M [GM VVD Practice], Mr. Krishnakumar S. Kammat[Manager IT Security], Mr. K. Jayakrishnan [AGM], Shri. Anub Mitran [HR] also participated. Shri. Sam George M interacted with HackFIT participants on industry life, career and skills.
ICEFOSS provides students with a platform to learn, share ideas and network with like-minded students, and an opportunity to suggest new problem-solving methods and put them into practice.
