Engineering and Construction Management
Visit of International Speaker Dr. Rahimi A Rahman to FISAT – SECON’25
The Department of Civil Engineering, Federal Institute of Science And Technology (FISAT), Angamaly, proudly hosted Dr. Rahimi A Rahman, Deputy Director of the Innovation and Commercialization Management Center and Associate Professor in Construction Project Management at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, Malaysia, during the Sixth International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management (SECON’25), held from June 4 to 6, 2025.
Dr. Rahman was the esteemed Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony of SECON’25. This year’s conference was centered around the compelling theme “Deconstruction: The Key to Unlocking Circular Universe in Civil Engineering.” In his keynote session, titled “Leveraging BIM and Digital Twins for Deconstruction: Strategies for Preparation and Optimization,” Dr. Rahman shared profound insights into the application of emerging technologies in sustainable deconstruction practices. His talk drew wide appreciation for its depth, relevance, and forward-looking perspective, sparking engaging discussions among researchers, academicians, and industry professionals.
His visit also marked a significant academic milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FISAT and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah since December 2023. This MoU aims to foster collaborative research, academic exchange, and mutual learning in areas of shared interest in civil engineering and construction management.
In conjunction with World Environment Day celebrations, Dr. Rahman planted a sapling on the FISAT campus, symbolizing a commitment to sustainability and a greener future. This gesture served as a meaningful conclusion to a day that highlighted both technological innovation and environmental responsibility.
Dr. Rahimi A Rahman’s presence and contributions significantly enriched SECON’25 and reinforced FISAT’s commitment to global academic collaboration and sustainable engineering practices.
