ILUMINAR-2k24

Iluminar, the project expo of final year students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering 2020-2024 batch organized by Electra, the students’ association of the department, was held on 7 th of May 2024 at DB407 and DB 408 of Federal Institute of Science And Technology. All the students reported to the venue by 10am and started to arrange their respective projects by flagging off of our solar-powered electric car . There were a total of 9 projects. Other students from the EEE department also showed interest and visited the exhibition. Each group was personally evaluated by Ms. Sreevidya P and Ms. Sreeja E A and was given scores depending on various aspects such as innovation social relevance, completion of the project etc. The exhibition went on till 2:00pm. The main objective of this exhibition was to provide a platform to unleash the potential of the students by displaying their innovative projects. The principal Prof Dr Jacob Thomas,Vice principal Dr.Mini PR,Dean Academics Dr.Unnikartha G Hod, Dr.Archana R, Public relation officer Mr Shinto Sebastian and other faculty visited and interacted with the students during the Project exhibition. The awards were distributed in the valedictory function held at DB 408 at 3.30 pm. The dignitaries addressed the session with very knowledgeable insights and wished the students for a bright future.

Awards were presented to the groups based on the evaluation by Hod Dr.Archana R. The Best Poster Award for the year 2023-2024, was given to the project “Switched capacitor bidirectional DC DC converter for EV” with a cash prize of Rs. 2000. Faraday Award, which is for the Best Completed Project of the year 2023-2024 was given for the project “Modeling & analysis of lithium iron battery degredation” with a cash prize of Rs. 3000. Next, the Tesla Award which is for the Best Socially relevant Project of the year 2023-2024, was given for the project “SOLAR CAR” with a cash prize of Rs. 3000. The Edison Award which is for the Best Innovative Project of the year 2023-2024 was given for the project “Enhancing buck converter control using ADRC” with a cash prize of Rs. 4000. The outcome of the expo was that the students were able to show their projects with atmost confidence and it also gave a platform for learning. The event was concluded by 4:15
PM with a group photo session. This exhibition was a great success in its innovative ideas, presentations, time management and that of knowledge sharing. Projects that were exhibited gave solutions to many social problems and could bring in more ideas and opportunities to fore front.
